Mike has been out of the hospital for a little over a week now and has set up shop at Jenny and Ryan’s house. He’s doing alright…glad to be out of the hospital with the comforts of “home” around him (ie. Coop dog!), much less pain issues thanks to the pain pump doing it’s thang, but still struggling with nausea to the point of not being able to really eat much at all.
Yesterday he had an appointment with his oncologist, Dr. Young. She believes the B-RAF is working based on good shrinkage of his mothership tumor…we’ll know for sure what’s happening internally when he gets some repeat scans in about 6 weeks. Crossing everything that it truly is working and continues to work for a good long while! Trying some new anti-nausea meds to try to get that under control so the poor man can eat something real. All he wants is a pizza 🙂 but his stomach has ulterior motives about that. So, again let’s hope they can find a med that can extinguish the nausea issue.
Looking ahead, he will have a consult with Dr. Ley (surgical oncologist) to see about an injection into his mothership tumor that could assist in shrinking it. He’ll also be referred to UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham) Cancer Center to see about some possible trials/treatment there. Probably nothing will happen on that front though unless or until the B-RAF isn’t working.
So that’s the word on the street for now. Keep on keeping on, folks…I know we are!
